Lamu Island : Kenya
Lamu Town is a small Town on Lamu island, which in turn is a part of the Lamu Arhchipelago in Kenya. Lamu situated 341 kilometres by road from northeast of Mombasa. Its Kenyas continually inhabited town and was one of the original swahili settlements along coastal Kenya and East Africa.
Lamu frort is a fort in the town, Fumo Madi ibn Adi Bakr, the sultan of Pate, started to build the fort on the seafront, to protect members of his unpopular government. He died in 1809, before the first storey of the fort was completed. This is a beautiful sight added to the rich history it becomes purely fascinating.
